Fogaça de Santa Maria da Feira

The Fogaça de Santa Maria da Feira is a regional sweet with over 700 years of history, protected by the European Union as a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI). This leavened dough ring, flavoured with anise and dusted with sugar and cinnamon, has its origins in the medieval festivities of the Feira Castle. The original recipe, guarded by the city's traditional bakeries, has remained virtually unchanged since the 14th century. Its unmistakable aroma and soft, lightly sweetened texture make the Fogaça the most emblematic gastronomic symbol of Santa Maria da Feira. Each piece weighs approximately 600g and is packed in a decorative cardboard box, ideal as a gift.
